Historically, females were only admitted into art galleries as nudes upon a wall. Objectified by men, and for the pleasure of the male gaze.
"All About Eve" is a group exhibition curated by Hew Hood, whom, as a gay man, has never appreciated this objectification of the female form form and instead presents a selection of female contemporary artists who are displaying the feminine not for the titillation of others, but as pure artistic truth.
The artists all present the nude from a purely female-gaze perspective, giving the subject agency and ownership of their physicality, rather than posing for the delight of the male.
The show includes exciting artists: Cecilia Reeve, Heidi Ukkonen, Julie-Ann Simpson, Rebecca Sammon, and Oriele Steiner.
