Beáta Hechtová is a Czech-born artist based in Vienna. In her work she models scenarios of speculative futures where utopia and dystopia overlap. She depicts enigmatic landscapes inhabited by post-human figures and hybrid creatures, reflecting on adaptation, belief, and survival. From what she calls “futuristic folklore,” new cultures emerge, drawing on evolution and myth.

"Chameleon is about an intimate moment of reflection, repair and reconnection. In a process of evolution and transformation, both creatures search for understanding and care within an unstable environment. Figures seem to dwell at the edge between human, animal and spirit, forming a fragile space where identity, empathy and survival take new shapes."
