Ekaterina Gerasimenko (1993, Moscow). Graduated from The Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and the Institute of Contemporary Art «BAZA». She participated in a residency at the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts and in the "ColLab" residency program at The Vaults Centre for Artistic Production, GES-2. In her artistic practice Ekaterina refers to the tradition of realistic painting and sculpture, herewith striving to crystallize the intersection of the illusory and the possible. The main subject of her interest becomes memory of place and everyday life.

"The work “Wharf” from the “Cultbase” series revolves around two themes: memory and place. As part of the series, I am referring to the route of a motor ship plying between Volgograd and the “Cultbase” pier. With the help of views from the ship, I explore unremarkable locations frozen in a transitional state, where the past and future are merged into one, like images from movies."
