Myriame Dachraoui, (b.1994) is a Tunisian painter who lives and works between Tunis, and London.

In her studio practice, Myriame asks the audience to consider the role spaces play in their own lives, exploring the complex relationship between intimacy and surveillance. The result is a series of works that are aesthetically striking and colourful while also having further allegorical layers regarding the power of the spaces we inhabit.

Recent exhibitions include: La mythologie des bordures curated by Kais Dhifi in Marseille, France (2025), Levitate in London, UK (2024), Boundless/Binding in Los Angeles, USA (2024).

"Lately, I've been increasingly drawn to introducing the body as a way to explore the untold stories of the women in my family. They carry their whole Tunisian identity — compelling, complex, filled with secret codes and taboo.

While space has always been the most intuitive metaphor in my work, I've recently realized how much the body holds and conveys stories. In art, representing the feminine body is never innocent: the body bleeds, changes, tells the truth.

I grew up seeing my mother constantly pinching her ear, something I associated uniquely with her. She grew up in a household that embodied our North African culture, where every gesture of a woman was subject to opinion.

My mother, meanwhile, was largely dissociative throughout her life — probably trying to leave her body for a while. Which is why I always found it quite funny that she pinched her ear, as if she were calling herself back into her body after a whole astral projection trip!"
