Pienet ilot

Pienet ilot is a collection of intimately-sized works all by artists either from, or based in, Finland.

The small size of the works invites an intimacy, encouraging the viewer to move close and examine them in detail. The ‘salon hang’ arrangement of the works creates an environment of shared space, where each work exists as a part of a unified whole.

The only stipulation given to this heterogenous group of artists was the size of the works, and so the themes explored by each are both diverse and complementary.

Some of the themes explored in these works include:

The home, the sanctity of the human body, an illusion of age and history, A strange phenomenon or change about to happen, broken bones, a last moment before  change, clouding vision and a sense of time, fairytales, fables and folklore, human and animal figures, sorrow, tears, and the unadorned beauty of nature.

This is Delphian Gallery’s fourth show in the Finnish capital since one of the two directors is now based in Helsinki, and their first in Vallila, which houses a vibrant community of artists, musicians, and creatives.
