Emily Stroud is an artist from the American South who currently lives and works out of Philadelphia, PA. She received her MFA from the LeRoy E. Hoffberger School of Painting at Maryland Institute College of Art in 2023. Her work layers narratives drawn from the lush, haunting landscapes of the American South, the mundane moments of her everyday life, and art historical symbols and environments. Her process is one of constant discovery. A perpetual exploration of self-reflection, the physicality of painting, and the haunting echoes of landscapes lived, remembered, and studied.

"The moth vibrates to be freed back into the night sky. Slippery, uncontrollable flashe paint brought the moth into being, while the precision of oil paint pins it to the grass."
