Charcoal on handmade Nepalese mountain Lokta paper (fixed)
21x29cm
£450
This new series of original charcoal works has been borne out of the limitations of the current covid pandemic, and the artist being over a thousand miles from his London studio. Isolating in a Waldenesque log cabin upon lake Saimaa in Finland, Benjamin has created these works over the last 3 months.
.
Handmade in the mountains of Nepal, this Lokta paper has a texture that responds drastically to the pressure required to draw with charcoal, and which creates a deep and undulating topology.
Taking houseplants and their shadows as his subject matter, this series highlights the often overlooked beauty that we are surrounded by, which has been given new significance by the necessarily enforced isolation.
