Tai Mahshoez - The Mist
Regular price £100.00 Save £-100.00Tai is an American visual artist based in London who only uses film photography as his medium of choice. His work focuses on colors, textures, and the daily situations around him, transforming the nonstop and fast-paced city into cinematic scenes. Through his scientific background, he likes experimenting with different types of film such as negative, positive, color infrared, and X-ray. He enjoys developing his own films and has successfully converted black and white negatives into beautiful positive slides. Inspired by classical and contemporary artists in painting and photography, Tai’s work depicts the fleeting moments that are embedded in light and shadow. His perception for attention to detail results in uniquely framed and composed images, allowing the viewfinder to act as the canvas.
" "The Mist", shot handheld on Provia 100 slide film, is from the "Hello Cambridge" series. The photographer began experimenting with film photography in Cambridge. During the seven years (2015-2021) living in one of the most beautiful cities in England, Tai found inspiration in everyday things such as the market and city parks. He experimented with different types of films and development processes until he became an expert. We could say that it all started in Cambridge."
