Yiwei Xu is a Chinese-born artist based in London and Kent. After completing the Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School in 2021, her artistic journey commenced with a focus on observational drawings using mixed-media techniques. Yiwei's creative inspiration stems from the natural forms abundant in city gardens, riversides, canals, lakes, and community green fields—serene sanctuaries where individuals seek refuge from the urban hustle and bustle.

"Inspired by the ever-changing surface of water, I try to construct an unstable scene through colour and form. Beginning with bright orange, the image is gradually disrupted by darker tones and luminous hues. Within this shifting balance, a growing force seems to accumulate: it may push the image into the depths of shadow or gather radiant light until it overflows. There is no fixed resolution—only the certainty of change."
